Enteral Nutrition Program
 
Ancillary Providers Services (APS) offers a state-of-the-art Enteral Nutrition Program developed with the unique needs of the Long Term Care resident in mind. We maintain a diversified inventory of enteral formulas, pumps, and supplies. Experienced Registered Dietitians are available to make recommendations for your enteral residents to enhance your current Quality Improvement (QI) programs and are a valuable “extra set of eyes” for your facility.  Enteral Coordinators assure accurate collection of necessary billing documentation and facilitates the orders for enteral supplies and formula.  Additionally our trained couriers deliver, stock, and rotate your inventory of supplies on a weekly basis.

Quality Improvement and Chart Review Services
Ancillary Provider Services' Registered Dietitians are available to perform monthly, quarterly, Pre–Survey and Post Survey audits.  Quality Improvement components and review include:
  • Verification of enteral M.D. order - confirming calculations, formula name and format
  • Review of ancillary orders and enteral protocols - e.g. flush, residual checks, head of bed
  • Infection control bedside enterable pump audit - verify settings for compliance with physician’s orders, cleanliness of  pumps, poles and surrounding areas
  • Written reports are presented at the exit conference to Director of Nurses and Administrator and recommendations are discussed
  • Monitor residents weight for significant changes and trends
  • Calculations for adequacy of kcals,protein and fluids based on review of medical diagnosis, laboratory data, skin status, pertinent medications and supplements
Education
In-services are offered to the nursing staff a on a variety of topics related to enteral and nutrition support. With the goal of early recognition, APS takes a preventative and holistic approach by identifying problems through our Q.I. Program. In-services to keep the licensed staff up to date on the most recent products and practices in nutrition support and when appropriate can award B.R.N. approved Continuing Education Units
